Snowplanet offers a very unique experience, it's New Zealand's only indoor snow park. Serving up a "winter wonderland" 365 days a year, regardless of the Auckland weather outside. Located in Silverdale, it’s a massive 8,000-square-metre facility dedicated to everything snow.

What to Expect at Snowplanet

You don't need any prior experience to enjoy a visit and rental equipment is available if you don't have any snow gear of your own.

  • The Snow Dome: A climate-controlled environment kept at a crisp -5°C, featuring over 200 metres of real snow slopes. It includes a terrain park with jumps and rails for freestyle skiers and snowboarders.

  • Winter Wonderland: For those not quite ready for skis, this dedicated area is perfect for families. You can enjoy snow tubing (sliding down tracks in a large inflatable tube), tobogganing, or simply playing in the snow and making snow angels.

  • Ski & Snowboard Lessons: Snowplanet offers comprehensive programs for all levels, from first-timers to advanced athletes. Their "Rippers n Riders" after-school programs are a local favorite for kids.

  • 7-Summits Restaurant: If you prefer to stay warm, the on-site restaurant and bar offer "snow views" through large windows, allowing you to watch the action on the slopes while enjoying a coffee or a meal.

Planning Your Visit

  • Location: 91 Small Road, Silverdale (just off the Northern Motorway).

  • Opening Hours: They are open late most nights! (check website for up-to-date hours)

    • Mon–Tue & Thu: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

    • Wed: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

    • Fri: 10:00 AM – 12:00 AM (Midnight)

    • Sat–Sun: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

  • What to Wear: You’ll need warm, waterproof clothing. If you don't have your own, Snowplanet offers full rental gear, including jackets, pants, boots, skis, and boards.

Why It’s a Must-Do

Everyone remembers their first Snowplanet visit! The scale of the building, the crisp chilled air and (if you aren't a seasoned pro) plenty of slipping over as you play in the winter environment that Snowplanet bridges the gap between high-octane sport and family-friendly fun. It’s a specialized environment where you can learn to ski in a safe, controlled setting before hitting the big mountains—or just spend an afternoon tubing with the kids for a birthday party they won't forget.
